جوجل يحتفل بذكري تشارلز ديكينز ومدينة الكتب تقدم الأعمال الإنجليزية والعربية الكاملة

نشارلز ديكنز واحد من أكثر الكتاب شعبية في كل زمان ، وهو مسؤول عن بعض أشهر الشخوص القصصية في الأدب الإنجليزي .
ولد في بورتسماوث ، إنجلترا ، في 1812 وانتقل إلى لندن مع عائلته حين كان في حوالي الثانية من عمره . كانت العائلة فقيرة جدا ، و لم يتمكن جون ديكنز ، وهو موظف في البحرية ، من كسب ما يكفي ليعيل زوجته وأطفاله الثمانية . دخل تشارلز ،ثاني أكبر الأطفال ، مدرسة لبعض الوقت ، لكن تعليمه الرسمي لم يدم طويلا ، حيث أجبره وضع عائلته على أن يترك المدرسة في سن الثانية عشر .كانت أمه هي التي علمته أن يقرأ و ساعدته في أن يطور حبا عميقا للكتب . بعد أن ترك المدرسة ، وجد ديكنز عملا في مصنع دهان أحذية ، وفي حوالي نفس الوقت ، قُبِض على أبيه بسبب دين عليه وأرسل إلى السجن كمديون .
شكلت الصعوبات التي عانت منها العائلة واليأس العام الذي رآه حوله ، وهو يكبر ، نظرته إلى العالم وأثرت تأثيرا قويا على مواضيعه وأحداثه و شخوصه التي صورت في كتابته الأخيرة . مصمما عل أن يترك خلفه ما أقلق طفولته ، بدأ ديكنز يكتب لجريدة ، سرعان ما خلق لنفسه اسما كمحرر في محاكم لندن وفي مجلس العموم .
تحقق نجاحة الأدبي الأول مع ظهور ما أسبح يعرف بـ أوراق بيكوك ، ، في حلقات شهرية . عند سن الرابعة والعشرين أصبح مشهورا ، وظل كذلك حتى مات . لكن ، رغم نجاحة في الحياة العامة ، لم تكن حياة ديكنز الشخصية سعيدة . فقد تزوج كاثرين هوجارث في 1836 وأنجبا معا عشرة أطفال . وفيما الزمن ميضي، أصبحا غير سعيدين على نحو متزايد ، وانفصلا في 1858 . وفضلا عن كتابته ، وجد ديكنز الوقت والطاقة للعمل لعدد من المنظمات التي أنشئت لمساعدة الفقراء والمحتاجين ، مظهرا اهتمامه بالناس والظروف الاجتماعية التي تشكل الأساس لكثير جدا من كتاباته . تحت الإجهاد الناتج عن هذه الأنشطة الكثيرة راحت صحته تسوء ومات فجأة في 1870 .

مؤلفاته : كتب ديكنز عشرين رواية كاملة وأعمالا كثيرة أخرى غير روائية . كان ملاحظا ثاقب النظر للناس والأماكن ، ويتمتع بفهم عظيم للطبيعة البشرية ، وأظهر تعاطفا خاصا للشباب . كان في أحسن حالاته في وصف شخوص لا تنسى ومشاهد طبق الأصل من الحياة في لندن منتصف القرن العشرين

Sense and Sensibility - Jane Austen

Sense and Sensibility is a novel by the English novelist Jane Austen. Published in 1811, it was Austen's first published novel, which she wrote under the pseudonym "A Lady".
The story is about Elinor and Marianne, two daughters of Mr Dashwood by his second wife. They have a younger sister, Margaret, and an older half-brother named John. When their father dies, the family estate passes to John, and the Dashwood women are left in reduced circumstances. The novel follows the Dashwood sisters to their new home, a cottage on a distant relative's property, where they experience both romance and heartbreak. The contrast between the sisters' characters is eventually resolved as they each find love and lasting happiness. Through the events in the novel, Elinor and Marianne encounter the sense and sensibility of life and love.
The book has been adapted for film and television a number of times, including a 1981 serial for TV directed by Rodney Bennett; a 1995 movie adapted by Emma Thompson and directed by Ang Lee; a version in Tamil called Kandukondain Kandukondain released in 2000; and a 2008 TV series on BBC adapted by Andrew Davies and directed by John Alexander.

He worked as a teacher in Lincolnshire, until he became printer, editor and publisher of various magazines. He had two sons and six daughters with his wife Susanna Leake, whom he had married in 1855.

He was editor and proprietor of Once a Week from 1873 until its demise in 1879 and then was entirely engaged in writing fiction. Most of his work consists of adventure stories for young readers, featuring Explorers, Smugglers, young Adventurers and Seamen. His adult novels offer critical social commentary on Victorian England, especially reconsidering economic questions.
